Receptor in Sensory Systems is the title and theme of the fourth annual meeting of the New York Pharmacology Society to be held Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Collegetown, University of Rochester Medical Center.

Speakers

Kirill Martemyanov 

Kirill Martemyanov PhD is the keynote speaker of the meeting. He will speak on the roles of G-Protein Coupled Receptors and RGS proteins in visual processing in the retina. Dr. Martemyanov is currently a tenured Associate Professor of Neuroscience at the Scripps Research Institute in Jupiter, Florida.

Dr. Martemyanov has been recognized for his research with numerous awards including the ARVO Cogan Award for Young Scientists in Visual Research, and grants from the Knights Templar Eye Foundation and from NIDA for their Cutting Edge Basic Research Award. In addition to their work in the central nervous system, the Martemyanov lab has identified numerous novel signaling molecules that are important in retinal visual information processing.
Tiffany Schmidt  Slav Bagriantsev 

Tiffany Schmidt PhD of Northwestern University Dept of Neurobiology studies how specific subtypes of retinal ganglion cells promote distinct visual functions and influence behaviors such as circadian photoentrapment, pupil constriction, and vision.

Slav Bagriantsev PhD of Yale University Dept of Neuroscience uses a multidisciplinary approach to study the molecular basis of sensory physiology, with a focus on mechano- and temperature-sensitivity.

The 2016 Annual ASPET New York Pharmacology Society conference program includes:

Abstract Submission

Absolute deadline for submission of abstracts for talks and posters is May 6, 2016. 

  • To submit your abstract, fill out the form on the NYPS University at Buffalo abstract submission site and upload your abstract as a Word file.
  • The login password for the abstract submission site is: abstract 
  • Once logged into the abstract site, the abstract guidelines are available via a link at the top of the abstract submission form.
  • The abstract submission site allows for revisions. In case of a necessary revision, you may upload a new file. The abstract version that is uploaded to our database as of the May 6, 2016 deadline will be considered final.

Abstract Format

  • Abstracts should be formatted in accordance with Experimental Biology specifications.
  • The body of the abstract must have a minimum of 100 characters and maximum of 1220 characters. The abstract title, authors, affiliations, and body of the abstract should not exceed 1620 characters, excluding spaces.
  • Abstracts must have full first and last names of all authors.

Poster Competition

To participate in the poster competition, a PDF or Powerpoint version of the poster must be uploaded on the abstract submission form along with the abstract submission.
