Interview with Marcus S. Delatte,
Ph.D., Pharmacology/Toxicology Reviewer, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and Co-Chair of ASPET Committee on Mentoring and Career Development
Interviewer: Uyen Chu, Ph.D.
Dr. Marcus Delatte received his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and his postdoc training at McLean Hospital-Harvard Medical School. Across his career, Dr. Delatte’s research has focused on characterizing the pharmacological effects of various classes of drugs that include cannabinoids, sedatives, and stimulants. He currently serves as a pharmacologist/toxicologist reviewer at the FDA. Dr. Delatte’s involvement in ASPET began when he attended a satellite meeting at the Experimental Biology meeting in 1999 while he was an undergraduate. As a graduate student and a postdoc, he continued to attend the Experimental Biology meeting every year which allowed him to establish and maintain relationships with members and leaders of the organization. Following his postdoctoral fellowship, he was invited to serve on the Diversity Committee to help organize and carry out symposia and other activities to serve ASPET members. The Diversity Committee was recently dissolved and replaced by the Mentoring and Career Development Committee, which has taken up many of the roles of the Diversity Committee and added others in order to better serve the ASPET membership.
Listen to Dr. Delatte talk about programs and activities related to mentoring at the ASPET Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology 2013, Saturday, April 20 - Wednesday, April 24, in Boston, MA and the initiatives of the Committee on Mentoring and Career Development.
