Goodman and Gilman Award in Receptor Pharmacology Lecture

Sunday April 03, 2022

1:00 pm - 1:45 pm Central Time (CT)

114 Nutter Auditorium

Join us for the Goodman and Gilman Award in Receptor Pharmacology Lecture.

The Louis S. Goodman and Alfred Gilman Award in Receptor Pharmacology was established in 1980 to recognize and stimulate outstanding research in pharmacology of biological receptors. Such research might provide a better understanding of the mechanisms of biological processes and potentially provide the basis for the discovery of drugs useful in the treatment of diseases.

G protein–coupled Receptor Signaling in Phototransduction

G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are involved in a vast variety of cellular signal transduction processes from visual perceptions to sensing the levels of many hormones and neurotransmitters. Rhodopsin is a prototypical GPCR that detect photons in retinal photoreceptor cells and provides a structural and functional template for other members of the GPCR family.
