This symposium will review the educational pedagogies for integrating and assessing student understanding of pharmacology and other basic science content and concepts during clinical training years in medical education to improve application of basic science concepts in problem solving for safe and effective care. Speakers will present examples of pedagogy currently used to insert basic biomedical content into clinical training years, such as online coursework, interprofessional experiences for students, improving student prescribing skills to reduce medication errors, and the clinical perspective of these educational pedagogies, plus a workshop for discussion and experience in developing and using appropriate educational tools.
