Wenqiu Zhang is The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Highlighted Trainee Author for the April 2024 issue. Zhang is a PhD candidate in the Department of Pharmaceutics, University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.

The JPET article that earned her the selection as a Highlighted Trainee Author is titled “Pharmacokinetics of panobinostat: Inter-species difference in metabolic stability” and is available at https://doi.org/10.1124/jpet.123.002051.

Her research project involves the investigation of the CNS delivery of selected histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors and their in vitro metabolism. The goal of Zhang’s current studies is to use the preclinical data to inform rational preclinical and clinical study designs of the selected HDAC inhibitors as anti-CNS tumor drug candidates. Zhang’s plans to continue her research in the field of pharmacology and to contribute to the development of efficacious anti-cancer treatment.
