Agustos Cetin Ozbey is the Drug Metabolism and Disposition Highlighted Trainee Author for the January 2024 issue. Dr. Ozbey is a PharmD graduate and earned a Master’s degree in Pharmacokinetic Modeling from the University Paris Descartes under the mentorship of Pr. Xavier Decleves. Currently, he is completing his PhD in Physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling under the mentorship of Dr. Neil John Parrot, Dr. Kenichi Umehara, from F Hoffmann La Roche, Switzerland and Pr. Pieter Annaert from the University of KU Leuven, Belgium. The DMD article that earned him the honor of being selected as Highlighted Trainee Author is titled:  "PBPK Modelling for Drugs Cleared by Non-CYP Enzymes: State-of-the-Art and Future Perspectives" and is available at https://doi.org/10.1124/dmd.123.001487.

Dr. Ozbey has focused his PhD research on the topic of Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling and how it can be extended into new areas on a firmer basis. His work aims to enhance PBPK modeling for compounds metabolized by non-Cytochrome P450 enzymes by refining the precision in translational modeling and in vitro to in vivo extrapolation for newly developed drug substrates of these enzymes. His work focuses on understanding the metabolic behavior of non-Cytochrome P450 enzymes, such as UDP-glucuronosyltransferases, examining both healthy individuals and special patients, like those with liver cirrhosis, and proposing modeling strategies that can forecast these metabolic processes.

When not in the lab, Agustos is passionate about cinema and collects vintage pop culture items.
