Hosted by the ASPET Mentoring and Career Development Committee, the focus of this session will be on implicit bias. We will hear from Dr. Martha I. Davila-Garcia, Associate Professor, Howard University College of Medicine. Her presentation will highlight how to “‘decode’” power dynamics and facilitate your personal success as a researcher, scientist, and expert in your field. By the end of the session participants will be able to describe how their research success includes personal leadership, self-advocacy, mentoring, sponsorship, and negotiation. There will be interactive small group breakouts and participants are encouraged to bring examples, scenarios, and questions that will enrich the discussion.
