On October 13, President Obama hosted the White House Frontiers Conference, which featured several speakers and exhibits highlighting the future of innovation in science and technology. The President also wrote an accompanying piece for Wired magazine describing his optimism for the future of technology and innovation. Moreover, the White House released a fact sheet highlighting $300 million in federal investments in science and technology, and emphasizing the critical role that "innovative policymaking and multi-sector collaboration play in seeding prosperity." Among the announcements were awards to four new regional medical centers as part of the PMI Cohort Program, and NIH's third round of grants to support the BRAIN Initiative (over $150 million in total support in FY 2016).
