Dear Colleagues:
The Department of Pharmacology and Experimental
Therapeutics at the Boston University School of Medicine is pleased
to host the 37th Annual New England Pharmacologists Meeting
(NEP2008) on Friday and Saturday, 29 February & 1 March 2007, at the
Hilton Hotel in Dedham, MA.
The meeting is an educational activity expected to
attract an attendance of more than 200 pharmacologists from academic
institutions and the pharmaceutical industry of New England. The
program includes oral and poster research presentations and keynote
lectures. The meeting schedule is enclosed and provides the names of
the distinguished keynote speakers and the titles of their talks.
This meeting provides the unique opportunity for
pharmacology graduate students to present their work to a receptive
audience of students, faculty and scientific colleagues from
universities and pharmaceutical companies throughout New England.
The meeting features two days of oral and poster presentations and
includes three keynote lectures by renowned scientists from academia
and industry (see attached schedule).
Sessions will be chaired and presented by graduate
students and junior industry scientists. This format is an excellent
venue for graduate student training. This will be the first
opportunity for some students to present their work to a regional
audience. The New England Pharmacologists attempts to provide a
training experience for young pharmacologists and fits well with the
training mission of ASPET. The meeting encourages interaction among
students in pharmacological and related disciplines and reinforces
their interest in pursuing careers in the pharmacological sciences.
The meeting will also offer an opportunity for career counseling by
academic and industrial leaders in the pharmaceutical sciences
during small group breakout sessions.
Critical to the ongoing success of the meeting is
the low cost of registration and housing for students and faculty
with limited travel allowances. In addition, the meeting is renowned
for the participation of high-impact keynote speakers.
A professionally bound program of the meeting
including abstracts will be provided to all participants in accord
with the high standards for ASPET sponsored meetings.
The meeting has a two-day format, beginning at 11:45
a.m. on Friday and ending at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
As you are aware, the pharmacological sciences
research community is determined to unravel the molecular mechanisms
leading to, and treatments for, major diseases that afflict
humankind. The Department of Pharmacology & Experimental
Therapeutics at Boston University is pleased to host this two-day
symposium focused on sharing the latest and most significant
developments in the field of pharmacological sciences research
within New England.
We believe that this is a very exciting and stimulating agenda
comprising thought leaders in New England. We hope that you will be
willing to attend and urge your colleagues to do so as well. The
event will begin with lunch at 11:45 am on 29 February 2008.
We very much look forward to hearing from you with
regard to your attendance and hope that we can welcome you at
NEP2008. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any
questions. To confirm your attendance or obtain further information,
