 ASPET Minority Young Scientist
Travel Award Nomination 

to Experimental Biology ’09 in New Orleans, LA
April 18 –22, 2009


Deadline for receipt at ASPET:  December 1, 2008

The Award:

  • The sum of $600 to partially defray the costs of travel and subsistence.

  • Member registration at the early registration level.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Doctoral degree received within the past five years.
     

  2. Research interests related to pharmacology & therapeutics, as indicated by the applicant's curriculum vitae and bibliography.
     

  3. A member of ASPET in good standing.  Please note that the current year's dues must be paid before we will accept applications for a travel award.
     

  4. First (and presenting) author of an abstract submitted for the EB ‘09 Meeting in New Orleans, LA.
     

  5. Must be an underrepresented minority in the biomedical sciences  (i.e. African American, Hispanic American, Native of U.S. Pacific Islands, or Native American, including Alaskan Native).
     

  6. Cannot receive a travel award from another Experimental Biology sponsoring society.

 Required Materials:

  1. Application form, either submitted via the web, or sent as an email to travelawards@aspet.org
     

  2. Type or cut & paste your abstract, CV and bibliography into the spaces provided on the form.  If your CV is too large for the space provided, email it as an attachment to travelawards@aspet.org.
     

  3. The ASPET Office will contact your sponsor to obtain his/her endorsement of your travel award nomination.

 Terms of the Award:

  1. The check for the award and the award certificate will be presented at the ASPET Business Meeting &  Awards Presentation on April 18.  Attendance is required.
