ASPET Graduate Student
Travel Award Application 
to Experimental Biology ’09 in New Orleans, LA  from April 18 – 22, 2009

Deadline for receipt at ASPET:  December 1, 2008

The Award:

• The sum of $600 to partially defray the costs of travel and subsistence.

• Student registration fee.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Full-time student in doctoral program in pharmacology or engaged in doctoral research in pharmacology who will not have completed the degree requirements by May 1, 2009.
    

2. A member of ASPET or an applicant for membership (completed membership application may be submitted with travel award application).
    

3. First (and presenting) author of an abstract submitted for the EB ‘089 Meeting in New Orleans, LA.
    

4. Cannot receive a travel award from another Experimental Biology sponsoring society.

 Required Materials:

    Applicant:

1. Application form, either submitted via the web, or sent as an email attachment to travelawards@aspet.org.  The ASPET Office will contact your department chair to obtain an endorsement.
    

2. One completed copy of an ASPET membership application (if not already a member or pending member). The sponsor statement can be emailed to rphipps@aspet.org.

     Department Head:

Your department may submit any number of eligible nominees for a Travel Award.  One or more students may receive an Award, depending on the availability of funds.  The ASPET office will contact you by email to obtain your endorsement of this candidate and a ranking of multiple candidates from your department.

 Terms of the Award:

1. Required attendance at the Graduate Student Colloquium on April 18.
    

2. The check for the award and the award certificate will be presented at the ASPET Business Meeting & Awards Presentation on April 18.  Attendance is required.
    

3. The full Award will be voided if the student does not attend the Graduate Student Colloquium and the EB meeting.
