2009 Annual Meeting

Name Change

The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is pleased to announce a name change to: THE DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY & CHEMICAL BIOLOGY!  Details are HERE.
 

2008 Annual Meeting

The 2008 Annual Meeting was held February 8-10, 2008 at the Grand Hyatt in Newport Beach.  It was a rousing success!  The program featured many outstanding presentations.  Review them HERE. 

 

2007 Annual Meeting:

Our Annual Meeting was held on February 14-21, 2007, at the Hilton Colon in Quito, Ecuador.  The meeting featured Dr. Anthony Scarpa, NIH Director of the Center for Scientific Review and Tony Mazzaschi, Director of CAS Affairs and Senior Associate President for Biomedical & Health Sciences Research, AAMC.  The meeting included a half-day tour of Colonial Quito and a full-day tour to the Lakelands and Otavalo.  See meeting minutes, pictures and presentations HERE.

 

 

Message from the President

Welcome to the web page of the Association of Medical School Pharmacology Chairs (AMSPC). The website provides much of the basic information needed to appreciate the role of our society in structuring education and research enterprises for the over one hundred departments in North America. We are in the process of continuing to build this site and in the coming months we will attempt to incorporate as much useful information for our members as possible.

The Association of Medical Pharmacology Chairs is an organization composed of current and emeritus Chairs of medical school pharmacology departments in the United States and Canada and Associate Members from other countries. The organization strives to promote pharmacology as a discipline and our overall focus includes: medical and graduate student education; scientific research; research funding; interface with industry; faculty development. Each year the membership holds an annual winter meeting in January or February to update members on important developments in these areas and allow members to interact in an informal atmosphere that promotes idea exchange, cooperation and formation of new friendships and collaborations. The side-bars on this page provide some information on these meetings. AMSPC also maintains and regularly updates the Knowledge Objectives in Medical Pharmacology that provides information on the essential elements of pharmacology that should be taught to medical students. In addition, AMSPC maintains a close relationship with FASEB through the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.
